Who Is Eligible for Housing

To qualify for housing, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

  • Your household income and assets must be at or below the limits established by Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC).
  • You must be able to live independently.

Intended Clients – Social Housing Program

The Social Housing Program is designed for:

  • Individuals or couples aged 55 years or older
  • Individuals near the age of 55 with a permanent physical or cognitive disability
  • Households with children or adult dependants
  • Individuals, couples, or families who require wheelchair-accessible housing

How to Apply

We strongly encourage applicants to deliver their application in person whenever possible. This allows staff to review your application with you and help ensure all required information is included.

  • Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
  • All applications must include current contact information so staff can reach you regarding your application including a mailing address and phone number(s).

 If you are unable to attend in person, applications may be submitted by email: housingapp@sasktel.net (This email is also used for all application-related inquiries.)

Application Process

  • Once your application is reviewed and considered complete, a short interview is required to finish the application process.
  • Staff will contact you using the contact information you provided to arrange this interview.
  • A decision letter will be sent to the address provided in your application once your situation has been reviewed.
  • Please ensure your mailing address is current and accurate to avoid delays in receiving your decision.

How Priority Is Determined

Applications are assessed and prioritized based on level of need. Priority is given to households with the greatest need, considering factors such as:

  • Current housing conditions
  • Current shelter costs
  • Household income

Emergency housing is not available.
